Series 1 raised feeders either use North American sourced hardwood veneers, or one of two imported veneers

The first imported is Wenge veneer made by Alpi in italy, who follow stringent environmental practices. It is shredded, dyed and pressed from plantation grown Poplar wood. While it has a rich and gorgeous exotic appearance, it is not harvested from a rain forest.

The second imported is bamboo veneer made by Teregren in the U.S. Their bamboo is sustainably harvested, then manufactured into veneers and panel products in the United States.

Vurv Design uses a polyurethane varnish on all their pet products. Not only does this finish have very good water resistance and a tough finish, it also has a warm soft glow that laquer or conversion finishes are lacking. It also requires much lower levels of solvent in its application than laquer does. This means less pollution. The disadvantage to this high quality type of finish is the long curing time - and this is the main reason it is not used by more professionals. Vurv Design uses a HVLP (high volume, low pressure) spray system to apply this finish, which has 65 - 90% efficiency, versus only 20% - 30% efficiency on a conventional spray system.
